*NSFW is a nebulous and hard-to-pin-down term in the current era of the censorship-heavy internet landscape, and doesn’t mean a sudden leap into hardcore erotica. The focus of the story is always primarily on character growth and interpersonal relationships, not “sexual gratification,” so while there will (eventually, because it’s a ‘slow burn’ romance) be erotic scenes, they are NOT the dominant focus of the story. In fact you can skip reading them if you really want, but a lot of important dialog and plot reveals happen during them so I wouldn’t recommend it!
A final note about the “mature” nature of this story beyond the erotic scenes as I just mentioned, there are parts of this story that deal with heavy subjects like self-harm and abuse, but none are described in detail and all are in the past, perpetrated by antagonists, not the core characters in the story (aka “the good guys”). These heavy subjects are fundamental to how the characters have developed prior to the start of the story (e.g. why Theo is so slow to trust romantic partners) but the focus of the story is to show how the characters learn to adapt and grow past their trauma, not be weighed down by reliving those difficult circumstances. AKA this story is not a total bummer!
I’ve been passionately writing this story for over a year, and all the characters (the MC and his romantic lead especially, but all the ‘side characters’ as well) have become very dear to me. I think there’s a lot of value and entertainment in following along with their personal journeys between what they were before and who they can become with the right patience and support from those around them.
